As previously reported, before the municipal elections last year, a woman accused the opposition candidate, Imre László DK, of sexual harassment in early October: covering her name and face, she also spoke to the official Origo and TV2 about harass Imre László. , about which the woman also informed the hospital management. The head of the private clinic refuted the report and Imre László sent a message on his Facebook page to Tamás Hoffmann and Fidesz: “If there is a fight, let there be a fight. But as long as they want to fight me with lying maturity and pettiness, I will honestly defeat them on October 13!
Imre László also won the elections. He became mayor of the district and then demanded rectification of the channel and the newspapers that reported him due to the expiration of the materials. As we wrote, TV2 did not provide it, so László sued and an investigation was ordered. against TV2 and Origo, and then in November of last year he won a lawsuit in the first instance against TV2 and Origo. He later won these lawsuits in the second instance.
According to a recent statement issued by the party in May 2020, he also sued the pro-government Pest Guys, which provided the information, and won it in the second instance, so the verdict is also final here. The party writes in its statement
After carrying out the process, the court ordered pestisracok.hu, which had taken over the false news without criticism, to rectify it, which they tried to reject for a reason. The Metropolitan Trial Board now ruled in second instance that the allegations made by the Fidesz media were lies from start to finish, and ordered the editor of the fake news portal Pest Guys to pay the costs of the lawsuit and appeal and publish the correction. There is no appeal against the sentence. The Democratic Coalition welcomes the decision of the Metropolitan Arbitration Panel and hopes that fake news producers who want to serve power without criticism, even dragging an innocent man, will comply with the final decision as soon as possible.
Imre László was legally represented by Csaba Czeglédy.
Incidentally, the politician’s legal representative said last year regarding the TV2 lawsuit that although the court had called the channel to present evidence or a witness, the channel did not, but not even a journalist appeared in court. who could tell how he was convinced of the truth of the story told. The channel, by the way, defended itself in the first instance saying that they only presented the position of the informant subject.
