Renovation work began in more than half a year at the Metro 3 deepwater stations in the center, but demolition is still underway, BKV informed MTI.

At the Arany János Street and Ferenciek Square stations, the escalator structures were dismantled, leaving only one row of stairs in place, which provides pedestrian traffic between the platform and the surface.

A temporary staircase has already been built at the station on Arany János street, which serves as an ascent and descent, so the last escalator can be demolished.

Injection tasks are carried out in the main ventilation rooms of both stations, which is a special waterproofing method. In this way, wetlands that have appeared for many years are treated, for example by injecting synthetic resin into the wall structure through holes in some places, which improves the tightness of the concrete.

Reconstruction at the Corvin Quarter and Semmelweis Clinics station was also reported to have started in July. Here the escalator is still being demolished, most of the cladding has already disappeared from the walls and ceilings, and on the level below the platform the main vent is being dismantled in order to deliver it.

The construction of the elevator and the connecting tunnel for the accessibility of the Deák Ferenc tér station has also been carried out in Erzsébet square for half a year, using a special tunnel construction method. The 16-meter-deep mine, designed for the National Theater once planned here, has already been fully opened and mined by an extraction method for another 10 meters.

A corridor is currently being built that will connect the surface with the passenger area, according to the BKV statement.
