Index – Culture – What to look for if we cannot move out of the apartment?

[ad_1]

This is again a regular Karantévé article, Index, about the new content published by Hungarian streaming service providers. You can access our recommendations from the previous week at this link.

Although it is not a strict broadcast, it is definitely worth mentioning the sacrificial work of the Hungarian Film Archive here, where Hungarian classic movies are available online for free, almost in HD quality, almost regularly, almost every month. Now, on the occasion of Hungarian Film Day, you can see twenty comedies made at different times until May 10. This is a list of movies:

The list of movies shown on streaming providers is not exhaustive, but rather a recommendation for those who are looking for news and want to know more about it. And there is also some overlap with last week’s releases, because there were some that we omitted from the previous article, but we’ve already included them.

NETFLIX

Films

coyote – One of the most destined Hungarian films in recent years is being uploaded to the biggest service provider, let’s add that there are many other Hungarian films (Open, About Body and Soul, Saul’s son, Chameleon, etc.). Kojot was famous for allegedly biting producer Gábor Kálomista so much that he disappeared from theaters the week after the premiere, presumably because there was a figure close to Fidesz who could be identified in the story. However, I’m not so sure about the latter, the fact that the dealer even ruined the free online premiere because they managed to upload a version to YouTube that couldn’t be played correctly. Then, when the dust settled around the Coyote, it turned out to be a masculine, stocky, stunted, hard-working, a little bit of a hundred-year-old thought, but it still jumps the average standard of Hungarian audience films. We write a review of this here. (The movie previously appeared on HBO Go.) (May 1)

Becoming “The Obama couple is building their post-White House careers quite effectively, they already have an Oscar-winning documentary, American Factory, and now, under their contract with Netflix, here is other content, About Michelle Obama. The documentary will be about when she is no longer First Lady, but is still working on building communities through a multi-station American tour. (May 6th)

Serie

The whirlpool – Damien Chazelle had already bought me there for a lifetime for directing one of the best American movies of the last decade, Whiplasht, and for me an Oscar for best director for the California dream compared to that performance, it was almost the icing on the cake. We can also be sure that the astronaut movie The First Man, also magnificent, will be rehabilitated by everyone 5-10 years later, because it is not known that he did not get his juss. But how will his series The Eddy be is a good question, Chazelle is not the only director, but also Alan Poul (Reporters), Houda Benyamina (Divines) and Laïla Marrakchi (Rock the Casbah), and the protagonist is Surgeon or André Holland as well will be known for the Castle Rock series. Holland plays a jazz pianist who, as a co-owner of a Parisian club, tries to survive when he realizes that his partner is limping over something wrong. Also appearing in the series is the Polish film The Cold War, Joanna Kulig and the protagonist, Tahar Rahim, they will also be a real treat for fans of European cinema and Netflixes content. (May 8)

Other

Jerry Seinfeld: 23 hours to kill “While making more shows for most comedians is a part of life, and those shows air on television, or can be purchased on DVD or streaming, it has always been a footnote to Jerry’s career. Seinfeld. ” No wonder, on the one hand, he put all his material in his Seinfeld series with Larry David, and on the other hand, he made so much money and earned it to this day that he never needed to resort to such petty bourgeois things. After the series’ success, Seinfeld entertained himself with his talk show Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee in his car / celebrity man, but Netflix pulled him out of his comfortable life and gave him his own show first in 2017 and then now in 2020. Seinfeld is still a prank on the bomb anyway, even if his themes and acting are as if the comedians of the past 25 years have not happened. (May 5th)

Films

immaturity – “The world would need many more movies for teens,” we wrote in reviews when Immature was shown in Hungarian theaters. The film is about two geeky girls, Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein), who spent their high school years learning, and then, on the last day of school, they realize that, in addition to much pedaling, they They completely forgot about the fun, they forgot about living, so in the penultimate moment, they panic trying to make up for it all. And in the meantime, they must realize that the party can test not only the body but also the soul. Immature is a female production, directed by Olivia Wilde, who became world famous as the Thirteen at Doctor House. It’s his first feature film direction, but he’s already made short films before, and a cozy video for Red Hot Chili Peppers with skate girls in the lead role. Furthermore, the writers, some of the producers, editors and visual designers are also women, including Erika Toth, suspiciously Hungarian. (May 3)

Natalie Wood: what’s left “The death of legendary actress Natalie Wood is one of the great mysteries of Hollywood. Wood sailed to the Gulf of California in November 1981 in the company of her husband, Robert Wagner, and their mutual friend, Christopher Walken, and then fell into the water or was thrown into the water by the woman who was unable to swim. Her body was found the next day, drowned. No one has been charged with her death since, although in 2012 the tragedy was amended by drowning due to a drowning accident. and “other unknown causes.” In the documentary, we can see the actress’ life from the perspective of Natalie Wood’s daughter, Natasha Gregson Wagner, and those who knew her best. The film features home videos, photos, diaries, letters and interviews with friends, family and colleagues who have never seen each other. It doesn’t promise to get to the end of the mystery, but it does promise to give the fullest picture possible of Natalie Wood’s life and career. (May 6)

Infection – The infection, carried out in 2011, has experienced a great revival since the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, where it has jumped to the top of the list of viewers and downloads. In fact, it deserves it, because as we wrote re-watching the film recently, Steven Soderbergh’s film “is the only intact film that realistically represents the emergence, spread, impact, and treatment of a pandemic.” It is full of famous people and apart from a few small things it is practically impossible to say that it was introduced 9 years ago. “The Infection is a thriller and a detective story at the same time, in which the main characters try to solve the biggest crisis of health in the world, which has affected humanity since the Spanish flu. Consequently, we cannot see superheroes, but epidemiologists, doctors and researchers at work, which are even made more difficult by a surprisingly arrogant blogger (Jude Law) spreading fake news. After that, it’s hard not to see Steven Soderbergh as a seer. (May 8)

iTunes, Google Play

These films are those that can be bought or rented, not from streaming sites, but from the offerings of the digital service providers mentioned above.

Star Wars: Skywalker Age – With Skywalker’s age, a film history adventure came to an end, as a related story had never been told in nine parts before Star Wars. Three very separable three-epoch trilogies, which started in 1977 and ended last December with this movie. And how did Skywalker become? To put it mildly, it’s divisive, with at least some cautious fans and angry opponents on the Index’s editorial staff. However, most of us believe that this film was made to meet the perceived or real needs of fans rather than realizing our own independent ideas. This is probably why Colin Trevorrow, who originally appeared to be headed, was fired (due to creative differences for official reasons) and JJ Abrams was retired, who with the Force of Awakening has already shown that when it comes to satisfying the needs of fans, Disney Man. The basic story of the story, by the way, is that a year has passed since Luke’s death, when the Resistance hears disturbing news: Palpatine is said to be alive, so our heroes will follow in his footsteps. If not with this story, we can definitely have fun watching the movie with the fact that there are so many scenes, settings, and sayings that have been taken almost from a classic trilogy. (May 3)

Rhythm section – The Rhythm Section is based on a novel of the same title by British writer Mark Burnell. The protagonist of the story is a woman named Stephanie Patrick (Blake Lively) who loses her family in a plane crash. But then it turns out that Stephanie says that what everyone thinks is an accident was not really a fluke. He then decides to retrain his mother to be a professional killer, visit and kill those responsible for the death of his family. Filming the movie was not easy, as during the making of an action scene, Blake Lively was injured, so they had to stop working for a while. Finally, with a significant delay, the film was completed, which would have been shown in Hungarian cinemas in January this year. That has been left behind, but now you can make up for it online as they would be spending their time in quarantine with a vengeful action movie. (May 7).
