So many mysteries, so many legends have not surrounded an artist much yet, be it his death, his marriage, his extramarital affairs or even stories that revolve around alcohol.

According to the version that is still spread today – which is also the one most accepted by the public – on January 1, 2001 Imre Zámbó and his wife celebrated the New Year, and the following day at dawn the singer.

He shot himself in the head with a Beretta-type pistol.

Inadvertently, he just wanted to show his wife that there was no more ammunition in the pistol magazine. Later, additional versions stuck to this explanation, the truth of which remains questionable to this day. However, according to official expert opinion, there was no suicide.

Nine years after the artist’s death, the wife remembers that Jimmy wanted to show her how big the gun was.

After two shots, he emptied the magazine, then grabbed his wife and, to assure her there was no more ammunition, fired the pistol at his own temple again.

The singer died from his injuries at Honvéd Hospital in the morning. He had his most sensational funeral of all time: tens of thousands accompanied him on his last trip to the Csepel cemetery. Years later a woman appeared, a certain Éva Hulé, who testified, and after her testimony, the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office reopened the investigation into Jimmy’s death on suspicion of murder.

Zambó did not like Jimmy in the profession, so he had a lot of spikes in him, while selling most of the records. They weren’t really friends with the musician, and there were times when their songs weren’t even heard on radio or television.

He has released 12 albums in his life, most of which immediately went gold and platinum records, he became the most successful Hungarian pop musician of all time: the first 13 places on Mahasz’s list were his records, that had never been seen before.

However, to this day legends have circulated about its four-and-a-half octave sound range. Such a range of sounds, which is also a rarity in the world, was only available to Géza Molnár Szegedi, and today André Vásáry can boast of it.

Shortly before his tragic death, he put it this way:

I owe my sound range to a birth defect. A doctor friend of mine said that he thinks my vocal cords are positioned differently than the others.

The genius of this sound may not be better demonstrated in his last concert, which he gave in November 1999.
