He told fans of the 57-year-old movie star that he would return the lead role in the production at the request of Warner Bros. He added that he respects and agrees with the studio’s request, the film portal The Variety reported. MTI writes that Depp’s departure from the Harry Potter film prequel series came just days after the actor lost his lawsuit in the first instance against the British tabloid The Sun.

The star sued Sun because the newspaper wrote about him as a “wife beater.” However, Depp denied hurting his ex-wife, Amber Heard, 23 years his junior. Bros. also confirmed Depp’s departure from the series and thanked the actor for his work thus far. The studio says that the third part of the series is already being filmed and a new actor is being sought for Grindelwald. The new episode will debut in theaters around the world in the summer of 2022. The studio is planning a five-part series.

Due to allegations of domestic violence, the actor’s choice for the role was controversial from the start, but JK Rowling and Warner Bros. at the time insisted on their decision.
