An Australian codebreaker cracked one of the secret messages of an American serial killer known as the Zodiac after 51 years, but that didn’t get him any closer to revealing the criminal’s identity, writes The Guardian.
Australian David Oranchak announced on Friday that he has the solution that a group of experts from three countries has been seeking for 51 years.
I hope you have fun while you want to catch me. I am not afraid of the gas chamber as it will take me to paradise as soon as possible because I already have enough slaves working for me.
– sounds the message that the stranger with a sick mind sent to the San Francisco Chronicle in November 1969 in the form of a series of symbols.
The zodiac is officially linked to five murders committed in 1968 and 1969 in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Two more of his victims have managed to escape, but many more crimes are believed to be attributable to him. He himself committed the thirty-seven unknown murders.
The Zodiac Killer has terrorized many settlements in Northern California, and although decades have passed, we continue to fight for justice for the victims of brutal crimes. For the sake of the ongoing investigation and respect for the interests of the victims and their families, we cannot say more at this time.
This has already been reported to the San Francisco Chronicle by a spokesman for the local FBI office.
The man began reporting to newspapers and calling the police in 1969, calling himself the Zodiac. If the pages refused to communicate the encrypted lines, he threatened more crime. A total of four cryptic messages appeared, one of which the killer claimed to reveal his identity in it. However, this remains a mystery.
