In Romania, the daily number of newly diagnosed infections has risen to more than 1,700: 1,767 cases of coronavirus disease were reported on Wednesday. The number of known active cases has exceeded 18,300, more than 7,000 are hospitalized, and the number of severe cases requiring intensive care is close to 500. Health Minister Nelu Tataru said the positive scenario, based on disciplined compliance with precautions, is expected to reduce the number of daily cases from mid-October.
However, the head of the ministry also does not rule out the possibility that the authorities will be forced to take additional quarantine measures if the disease rate exceeds the capacity of the health system.
