In vain the HCLU requested detailed epidemiological data

Although the HCLU requested detailed epidemiological data from the National Center for Public Health (NNK), it did not receive a satisfactory response, the NGO said on Friday.

As they wrote, they requested data that would appear daily in official Austrian and German state reports on the daily number of infected people, the spatial distribution of the infection, and the number of patients in hospital and at home. According to the HCLU, this is data of public interest, to which everyone has the right to make responsible decisions in the epidemic situation.

The NNK sent a response to the first data requests late Thursday night, when the deadline expired, but they only sent a collection of links, including their Facebook page.

Many of them were told that they did not have them at all; They stated that they did not know the infection data by district, in which county, how many died in total, what was the gender distribution of those infected, how many free intensive care units there were,

wrote the HCLU.

The NGO stated that two things derive from this: “one is that they are telling the truth and they have no idea what the viral situation is like; the other is that they are aware of the tragedy that would unfold before us if we could know the data. “

The HCLU added that it will not be secretive as much as possible and will fight to make the data on the epidemic situation transparent.
