The transition to the new system, XSD 3.0, is also important from a data protection perspective, as this specification ensures the anonymity of public data, the secretary of state said. Retail data is essential for analysis on the sales side, but the personal data of the individual buyer is not needed, nor is it seen by the tax office, explained Izer Norbert.
According to the secretary of state, the new system will also have a direct impact on companies, since in many cases it can contribute to the spread of the digitization of sales processes, which can also bring efficiency reserves to the surface.
Although there is still more than a quarter to go to go through the January 1 system, which is funneling all accounts to the tax office, there is still a need to give nearly half a million businesses more time to prepare for the transition during the coronavirus crisis, said the secretary of state. During the sanction-free period until March 31, 2021, the old XSD 2.0 specification can still be used, but as of April 1, only a more advanced version, 3.0, will be available, which simultaneously ensures greater whitening of the economy, offering VAT refunds, data protection and electronic invoicing.
To prepare properly, the tax office will post the developer schematics and a full description of the technical changes on GitHub and onlineszamla.nav.gov.hu this afternoon. A logical and spectacular step forward

NAV’s miracle weapon started on July 1, 2018, when the data of all invoices with a minimum VAT content of 100,000 HUF transmitted to national taxpayers had to be sent to NAV immediately, that is, the invoicing programs used The companies were connected to the tax authority, which automatically provided the requested data. . According to the data previously presented by NAV, about 300 thousand companies participated in the provision of data in addition to the VAT value limit of 100 thousand HUF until the beginning of 2020.
The second stage of this measure was the expansion of the system, which will come into effect on July 1 of this year, since the regulation abolished the value limit of 100,000 HUF. In other words, the NAV online invoice report should provide data on the invoices issued to the customers subject to Hungarian tax in real time, regardless of the value of the output VAT.
And Secretary of State Izbert Norer’s big announcement on Monday is practically the third step in online billing. After a longer period of preparation, according to them, the invoices issued to individuals will also be reviewed by the tax authority.
