Professional catering and tourism organizations held an online round table on crisis management measures adopted by the Budapest General Assembly and on the Budapest Chamber’s 7 + 1 point proposal to amend kata regulations.

According to the chamber, the event was well received by participants, but due to the almost total decline in foreign tourism, measures taken by the capital on Wednesday are insufficient, including the introduction of a spring-like “kurzarbeit” wage subsidy to retain well-trained tourism professionals.

In order to find a compromise between the political positions of the parties, the Budapest Chamber proposes that the question of financing crisis management in the capital be placed on objectively measurable and acceptable mathematical calculations.

BKIK supports the calculation methodology recently published by the local government of the capital, which would distribute the amount of European Union crisis management resources allocated to Hungary among the country’s regions in proportion to the population. This calculation methodology can provide many more resources to companies in Budapest than the previous methodology of the European Union support policy, according to which developed regions receive significantly less resources compared to their population, the statement writes.

According to the information, during the meeting, the president of BKIK explained that the Chamber would also consider support options to boost demand for tourism and catering companies. At the invitation of Elek Nagy, President of BKIK, Zoltán Gálpál of VIMOSZ (National Association of Tourism and Hospitality Employers), Zsófia Deák de Sárvári MSZÉSZ (Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants), Judit Deák of the Hungarian Association of Tourist Guides, Gábor MARZZER participated in the meeting of the Association of Event Organizers and Service Providers) and Judit Lázár on behalf of MABEUSZ (Association of Hungarian Travelers).
