Ildikó Pécsi was born on May 21, 1940 in Polgár, graduating in 1962 from the Faculty of Theater and Film Arts. His name is associated with many memorable performances in theater and film. Audiences were also able to see him in dramatic roles and in prose, comedy, and operettas. He played Noémit in the first Hungarian wide-screen film, The Golden Man, released in 1962, and also appeared on the television series The Captain of Tenkes. He worked as a director and from 1994 to 1998 he was also a member of Parliament.

His work was recognized with the Mari Jászai Prize in 1976, with a worthy artistic title in 1980, with an excellent artistic title in 1987, and with the Central Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (civic section) in 2006. In 2007, he was awarded the Kossuth Prize for decades of popular and versatile artistic and performing arts work. This year he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hungarian Film Academy Association.
