The Hungarian Medical Chamber calls on the government to take immediate action to combat the coronavirus epidemic.
According to its statement issued on Friday, the second wave of the epidemic is “threatening a catastrophe”, requiring action in two main areas:
- Community prevention must be strengthened again by promoting and controlling the use of masks, suspension of mass events, sporting events, extended public tests, active government communication, vigorous action against virus deniers and epidemic skeptics, local measures and not totals in high-risk areas and institutions)
- And the health care system must be prepared to deal effectively with the second wave of the epidemic.
“Understanding that economic interest cannot be completely subordinated to epidemiological aspects, in our opinion, the adoption of the above measures will not be postponed, and we ask for the help of our decision makers and the cooperation of the population,” concludes the statement from the MOK.
