The main purpose of the BAMOSZ categorization rules is to help investors choose between funds by classifying each fund into different categories according to their investment policy and typical portfolio composition.

An important advance in recent times is the increasing emphasis and role of responsible environmental, social and corporate governance aspects in capital market investments (collectively, “ESG aspects – environmental, social, governance”). Also in Hungary, more and more funds are taking ESG aspects into account in their investments, and investor demand for them is also growing significantly.

In order to make it as easy as possible for investors who want to invest their savings in ESG-compliant funds, BAMOSZ classifies investment funds managed by its members into the following categories, based on the degree to which they pursue sustainable development in their investments. , as well as other aspects related to social responsibility:

  • The “ESG certificate“The condition that the fund manager filters the fund’s investments according to ESG criteria excludes investments in assets that are not acceptable according to ESG criteria.
  • ESG-Plus“A fund may be designated which, in addition to the above conditions, overrides, to the appropriate extent, assets with a positive ESG rating in the portfolio item selection criteria.
  • ESG impact“A thematic fund focused on sustainable economy, environment, etc. can be designated, investing in sectors mainly active in the field of sustainability.

BAMOSZ publishes the most important data of the investment funds managed by its members, which will include the fund category according to ESG criteria as of January 1, 2021, on its website (www.ramosz.hu), so Investors interested in such products will be able to BAMOSZ easily find these basics on its website.
