US President Donald Trump is in a military hospital Saturday after he was diagnosed with a coronavirus infection on Friday. The president will receive special treatment with an experimental drug used for mildly symptomatic coronavirus infections. Reuters has compiled the latest developments, which are described below.

About 17 hours after the diagnosis, Trump walked slowly out of the White House, from where he was transported by helicopter to Walter Reed Hospital, Maryland. He was wearing a mask, was in a suit, but did not respond to reporters.

The president also logged into a Twitter video in which he said he was feeling fine, but was going to the hospital to make sure everything was okay. In the video, the president looked depressed, and his surroundings also saw him tired, depressed even before his diagnosis, according to the leaked information.

White House spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany said the president would be working from the hospital in the coming days. Several supporters of the president appeared at the hospital, many expressing their best wishes, including his opponent, Joe Biden, but also Chinese President Xi Qing. Twitter, for its part, has indicated that it will ban tweets that wish the president’s death.

Trump is 74 years old, somewhat overweight, so he falls into the high-risk category. The president is generally in good health but does not exercise and eats unhealthy, the newspaper writes. He has reported a low fever. White House physician Sean P. Conley said the president was fine, did not need oxygen, and was given Remdesivir in addition to other medications. Trump even tweeted from the hospital and wrote in his post that he was fine.

Trump was affected by the disease at a delicate stage of the presidential campaign, shortly after the first debate of the presidential candidate. Democratic opponent Joe Biden has repeatedly criticized Trump, saying the president did not handle the epidemic well, resulting in the deaths of 200,000 patients in the United States. The president has been attacked by several for his poor handling of the epidemic and his irresponsible statements.

In addition to Trump, several Republican politicians and advisers have been infected, including Kellyanne Conway, a former senior White House adviser, and Mike Lee and Thom Tillis, Republican senators. Vice President Mike Pence’s coronavirus test, on the other hand, has turned negative, allowing him to participate in the October 7 presidential nominee debate, where Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris will debate (the event will be covered in alive).

Reuters recalls that Republican campaign personnel postponed Trump campaign events in the 31-day presidential campaign. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has dropped his messages of attacking Trump, but continues his campaign. At the Michigan event yesterday, he spoke in a much more subdued tone, he didn’t attack Trump, he tried to show national unity.

Biden also said at the campaign event that he was praying for the president’s health, but he also voiced cautious criticism of Trump mocking him for his frequent wearing of masks. Biden also spoke with a mask at the event. If Trump cannot fulfill his duties, the Republican Nominating Committee will have to choose a new candidate, but many ballots will no longer be able to change the candidate’s name and at least 2.9 million Americans have already cast their vote.
