Here are the new Czech restrictions: no one can leave your residential area

Under new restrictions that will take effect on Monday, announced three weeks ago so far the government restricts the movement of people: except for essential travel, no one will be able to leave their residential area. Anyone with a job outside their area of ​​residence will need an employer certificate to go to work. Visiting relatives who live within the district are also allowed only if absolutely necessary, because they have to take care of them, they need help. Health offices and institutions may also be visited outside the residential area only with a certificate.

Under the new measures, purchases are only possible within the residential area, Within a 500 meter radius of the residence, dogs can walk at night, and walk and jog only during the day at the residence.

Kindergartens are closing and, like other students, the first and second grades of elementary schools are transitioning to digital education. At the same time, the government is reducing the supply of stores that are essential and therefore open; for example, stationery and children’s clothing stores should be closed.

In accordance with accepted restrictions, wearing a mask is mandatory everywhere in a populated area, both on the street and at work.

“Our only goal is to reverse the upward curve of new infections and patients in the intensive care unit before it is too late,” said Hamácek.

The new rules will be enforced through random checks by the police, and 5,000 soldiers will participate in enforcing the measures.

The Czech Republic currently has the highest rate of new infections in the European Union,

and authorities say that the country’s health system has reached its performance limit, so the government declared a state of emergency until Friday, March 28. The Prague Health Ministry reported 14,457 new infections on Friday. And the health minister expects that number to reach 20,000 next week before the impact of the restrictions is felt. Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 1.2 million people in the Czech Republic have contracted the new type of coronavirus and the epidemic has claimed almost 20,000 lives.
