The coronavirus and the fight against it. The situation at home and in the world.
The mayor of a Romanian village, Deveselu, who died of a coronavirus infection two weeks earlier, on September 15, won the municipal elections by 64 percent. According to the official justification, there was no time to remove Ion Aliman’s name from the ballot.
“This man gave up his health, his family, everything he could do for the community, wasn’t that an action to consider?” – Transindex quoted Nicolae Dobre, deputy mayor, who had also voted for the deceased mayor. “None of the other candidates won the trust of the electorate. This is the reality. The residents did not trust the other two candidates and believed that the PSD should also continue to compete ”.
On the night of the vote, several people visited Aliman’s grave because it would have been his birthday that same day. “People wanted to pay tribute to him and show him that they would continue with what he started.”
Aliman’s party, the PSD, did not perform well at the national level, losing many mayor and council seats.
New elections will be announced soon in Devesuel, in which the deputy mayor will also run.
