An investigating judge at the Szeged District Court ordered the arrest of a villager who murdered his pregnant wife on Friday for 30 days. The man, suspected of having committed the crime of murder with extreme cruelty, has appealed against the decision, said Ferenc Szanka, spokesman for the Csongrád-Csanád County Attorney General’s Office.
The 36-year-old man is suspected of killing his pregnant wife in the presence of their youngest son with multiple knives at their family home in Szeged-Kiskundorozsma at dawn on Friday. The man left the scene after the delay and then went to his mother, where he told her what happened. The woman made a report to the police. Police arrested the suspect in Domaszék half an hour after the report.
The prosecution ordered the arrest of the man for the risk of flight, hiding and frustrating the process. The investigating judge shared the position of the prosecution and decided to order coercive action. The suspect and his lawyer filed an appeal, so the decision is not final. (MTI)
