“I was informed that a coronavirus test performed by one of my co-workers in my office came back positive this morning,” von der Leyen wrote.
He said his own virus test came back negative, but as a precaution he immediately left the European Council and entered voluntary quarantine;.
I was just informed that a member of my main office has tested positive for COVID-19 this morning. I myself have tested negative. However, as a precautionary measure, I immediately leave the European Council to go into self-isolation.

Von der Leyen last marched twenty-four hours earlier this week after a coronavirus infection was found in his immediate area. He then said that he had been in contact with the infected person during a meeting the week before.
The president of the European Commission is not the only EU leader who has recently been quarantined. A week ago, David Sassoli said that he had been in contact with an infected coworker and that he would stay home long enough to carry out the necessary checks in accordance with the relevant regulations.
Last month, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, was also quarantined due to an infection in his environment, prompting the postponement of a summit of EU leaders in Brussels a week later.
Under the scenario of the recently launched two-day EU summit, Von der Leyen will hold a press conference with the President of the European Council at the end of the first and second business days of the meeting.
