As in the first training session, in favorable weather conditions, a bright sun and, most importantly, the riders were able to tour the “sanctuary of speed” on dry tracks.
The Mercedes also brought the mandatory in the second training session: led by Lewis Hamilton, they closed the day in the lead, without little advantage! Hamilton became the fastest with a time of 1 minute 20,192 seconds, more than 2 tenths of a second ahead of his teammate, Valtteri Bottas, who also ranks second in the World Cup points race.
AlphaTaurik also provided splendid form in the afternoon training: Pierre Gasly finished the day in fourth place, while his teammate Daniil Kvyat was seventh fastest.

The young McLaren titan made great strides in the final minutes, Lando Norris, who finished the day with the 3rd fastest time, 9 tenths behind Lewis Hamilton.

Ferrari, as expected, suffered a lot on the dizzying track of Monza: Leclerc was 1.3 seconds slower than Hamilton, while Sebastian Vettel took a 1.5 second lead in 12th place. Also, the Ferrari’s car behaved rather precariously on Friday, Vettel turned once and Leclerc visited the gravel pad there, at the first Lesmo corner.
Although they excelled in Belgium for a week, the Renaults are still not shining: Esteban Ocon was 11th and Daniel Ricciardo only 15th. The line was closed by Williams.
The program of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix will continue on Saturday at noon with the third free practice, while the timer runs from 3 pm. The big question is whether the balance of power will change knowing that it will no longer be possible to use the so-called “party engine modes” in qualifying.
