Like all major European airlines, Ryanair was closed almost entirely due to the coronavirus epidemic, operating just 30 flights a day between March and April between Ireland, the UK and Europe. The epidemic still continues, but the airline already plans to restart, as do several of its competitors.
The airline announced this morning that it will resume 40 percent of its flights starting July 1 (1,000 flights per day), covering 90 percent of its previous route network (with fewer flights on each route).
Ryanair adds in a statement that all of this will be done if governments lift travel restrictions within the EU and health protection measures are put in place at airports.
There will be changes on board. On airplanes, both passengers and crew will be required to wear a mask and meal service on board will be limited, prepackaged food and beverages will be available and cash will not be possible. Passengers must request the use of the lavatory on board individually to avoid queues.
