Joachim Löw joined the German team after the 2004 European Championship. For the first two years he was assistant to Jürgen Klinsmann, and in 2006 he was appointed Federal Captain. His contract would have expired in 2022.
The 61-year-old has so far weighed 120 wins, 37 draws and 31 losses in 188 games as federal captain. During his 17 years with the national team, he won a World Championship title (2014), two World Championship bronze medals (2006, 2010), a European Championship silver medal (2008), and a Confederations Cup ( 2017). At the 2018 World Cup, the team was eliminated last from the group, for which Löw received a lot of criticism but was finally confirmed in his position.
The German federation has yet to name his successor, but more and more venues have heard that Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp can take over the national team.
If Germany does not advance from Group F at the European Summer Championship, Löw can contest the national classification for the last time against Hungary. The meeting will take place on June 23 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
