Mainz defeated TSV Havels in the quarter-division division 5-1 in the first round of the German Soccer Cup; Ádám Szalai scored his team’s second hit. However, to their great surprise, Hertha were eliminated: the Berliners bid farewell to Bundesliga 2’s Eintracht Braunschweig in a nine-goal drama.

At first Ádám Szalai was not there at the beginning: the Hungarian national team forward stopped in the 61st minute, standing 1-1, and then, in the 77th minute, he headed from five meters to the back to the left after a pass.
After Szalai’s hit, Mainz started and eventually won smoothly, 5-1, moving on to the next round.
In the second game of the day, the second division Braunschweig had five victories against Hertha: the Berliners were 5-4 behind, saying goodbye to the series.
