There was a tie in the interim mayoral election held in Kemeneskápolna in Vas County on Sunday between two independent candidates, so a new election must be called, the settlement notary told MTI.

Of the 107 eligible voters, 96 voted and all the votes cast were valid. Kornélia Ilona Csekéné Hóbor and Anna Janka Marton ran for the mayor’s seat and received the same number of votes (48-48).

Four candidates ran for the two seats, three of the four candidates also received 48 votes, so they voted by lot of the candidates who received the same vote. As a result, Sándor Rosta and Zoltán Antók became members of the three-member representative body, along with the future mayor.

In Kemeneskaplan, an interim election for mayor and local government representative had to be held because members of the previous body could not work together and decided to disband. The mayoral election must be repeated within 120 days. (MTI)
