Nyugat.hu’s editorial office received information earlier this week that the newly opened COVID ward at the Markusovszky hospital in Szombathely has had no hot water or heat for days.

A reader of the portal wrote: “The COVID room in the hospital has not had hot water for days and has no heat today. Mom is inside and now it’s frustrating. There are patients with pneumonia inside, who cannot bathe and now they are freezing. She also wrote that her mother had been lying on her coat for two days because there was no pillow, and eventually her family brought her one.

The reader noted that this room was opened late last week on the second floor of pulmonary medicine. “We have been trying to get help everywhere, but the hospital just flips the phone back and forth,” he added.

The portal asked the hospital what really happened.

“Our hospital took immediate action due to a technical problem in the COVID department, we immediately asked the external service provider to rectify the error. The repair was made on November 16, 2020, and since then there have been no technical problems, ”he wrote in his reply. Dr. Zoltán Káldy, the medical director of the institution. He added: “Beds, including pillows, are provided for all patients in the wards. There has been no shortage of care or complaints in the recent past. “
