A five-star luxury hotel would be built on the Costa Vieja, but the locals don’t want that.

On Saturday, Tata locals and civilians protested with a live network not to build a 120-room, five-star luxury hotel in the Priority Nature Reserve on the shores of Old Lake. The work would be handled by Avalon Park Kft., Part of the Hell energy drink group.

Locals and civilians have protested against the investment before, and another similar action took place on Saturday:

They surrounded Old Lake Tata to protect the area and its values.

“The five star hotel, the traffic associated with it and the construction itself would be an inadmissible interference with the natural environment, the intact natural beauty of the area would certainly be in jeopardy. Among other things, this is what gives Tata its unique appeal, ”said eco-philosopher András Lányi during the weekend move, according to Index.

Avalon Park Kft. Announced in May that after their similar investment in Miskolctapolca, they would also build a luxury hotel in Tata. The project also has the support of the local government. Then Avalon promised that the Old Lake will be walkable after construction, the hotel will be no more than 19 meters, there will be parking in the underground garage, and the building will not cover the popular Eötvös High School.
