With a court order, Hell Energy prevented Magyar Narancs from describing any information about them in an article in preparation.

This week’s Hungarian Orange magazine ran a five-page article on the history of Hell Energy and the energy drink maker’s financial background. After three paragraphs, the article took an unexpected turn, as we could read:

“Dear readers, here we briefly interrupt the publication of our present research article, omitting two longer details and a shorter one, one word.”

The Metropolitan Court prohibited the publication of these three extracts.

While they were writing, their questions were sent to the protagonists of the writing during the writing of the article, but the Hell press department refused to answer and four members of the owner’s family prohibited the disclosure of more information citing the GDPR Law. Hell’s owners have asked the Metropolitan Court to issue a restraining order; In practice, this means that, until the lawsuit begins, they have been prohibited from disclosing personal and business data. The General Court confirmed this in part.

The Hungarian Orange said it would fight to make all the information public. They also added that neither Hell’s owners nor the court could see the article yet.

This is not the first time that Hell has attempted to restrict press coverage by citing the GDPR: In January, as a temporary measure, Forbest also had to be removed from newsstands until a court decides whether to violate the GDPR by typing the name. from the owner on his list of the 50 richest Hungarians.
