Half a year after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the spring, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. Viktor Orbán announced the latest measures taken due to the coronavirus epidemic in a Facebook post. The prime minister said: experts say that the second wave of the epidemic will peak between December and January, meanwhile, it will have to be constantly defended.

The prime minister put it this way: “we won the battle in the first wave, we have to face the second wave, more prepared and with more experience.”

“We have a war plan on how to protect the elderly, how to heal the sick and, at the same time, how to keep the country running,” he added.

According to Viktor Orbán, health care has been prepared, the necessary equipment for protection, hospital beds, ventilators and the doctors and nurses necessary to operate them are available in sufficient numbers and, if necessary, the more than 10,000 beds can be increased. 2-3 times today. And based on a “command plan,” they can also send doctors and nurses to the right place.

Therefore, the following decisions were made at the government meeting:

  • since the virus was introduced from abroad, entry restrictions are maintained;
  • in addition to shops and public transport, the mask will be compulsory in cinemas, theaters, health and social care establishments and reception offices;
  • maintain a total ban on visits to hospitals and nursing homes;
  • as of October 1, body temperature measurement is also mandatory for students and teachers before entering school, only they can enter institutions;
  • the price of PCR tests cannot exceed 19,500 HUF;
  • nightclubs must be closed at 11pm

The Prime Minister asked everyone to respect the rules, especially for the elderly and the sick. And he instructed the police, through the interior minister, to strictly monitor and enforce the rules and, if necessary, sanction those who did not follow them.

“Once you have been successful, now you will have it a second time. Let’s take care of each other, ”concluded Viktor Orbán.
