Brazilian planes will arrive in Hungary in 3-4 years, it is not yet known how much they cost.

Hungary buys two KC-390 multipurpose military transport aircraft from Brazil, reported briefcase referring to the manufacturer’s Embraer notice. The contract for the purchase of the aircraft was signed on Tuesday in Budapest, at the Ministry of Defense, by Colonel General Ferenc Korom, commander of the Hungarian Defense Forces, and Jackson Schneider, President and CEO of Embraer Defense and Security in Brazil.

The A319 and Falcon 7X jets, which have been acquired in recent years and are used primarily for passenger transport, will be accompanied by KC-390 jets, said Gáspár Maróth, the government commissioner responsible for defense developments, according to a statement from the Defense Procurement Agency.

The Army will receive aircraft with ramps capable of carrying 23 tons of cargo. It can be a vehicle, team, 80 soldiers or 60 paratroopers. According to the announcement, the KC-390 will be able to land in low-quality airports, including airports with grass, in addition to paved runways. According to Embraer, the aircraft is also suitable for refueling JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets in the air and for refueling in flight.

Its equipment also allows emergency evacuation, as well as a large number of transport tasks for the sick and injured.

According to Maróth, this will complete the development of the army’s airlift, evacuation, airborne and refueling capabilities. The planes can reach Hungary in 2023–24.

Hungary is already the second European NATO member to buy this type and Portugal has already ordered the machines.

A briefcase According to the company, the production cost of a plane is 50 million dollars (about 14.5 billion HUF), but since the details of the contract are not public, we do not know how much we will pay for the plane.

Three years ago, the state bought A319s for about 20 billion guilders. Regarding the Airbus, the government initially tied the eb to the stake, which were multifunctional troop carriers, not pilot planes, and then it turned out quite slow as the “troop carriers” regularly transported members of the government and President János Áder (too).
