Certificates that expire after November 4 will remain usable for 60 days after the end of the current emergency. But only in Hungary.

To reduce the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, as well as the number of face-to-face meetings, the government will extend the validity of expiring identity documents, the prime minister said.

Certificates that expire after November 4 will remain usable for 60 days after the end of the current emergency. The same applies to documents that expired at the time of the spring emergency, between March 11 and July 3, but were later issued by the government.

The regulation only applies to documents issued by the Hungarian authority and valid on the territory of Hungary. Expired documents can only be used in Hungary, they will not be accepted abroad.

However, the Regulation does not apply to documents that expired between July 3 and November 4, and therefore should be extended.

As of November 11, to help prevent the epidemic, government customer service, including government windows and document offices, can only be contacted after an appointment. Appointments for the government window can be made online at idopont Reservo.kh.gov.hu or on the revamped website magyarorszag.hu, or toll free 1818.
