According to the president of the Hungarian Medical Chamber, there is a possibility that some of his proposals will be included in the law that also regulates the salaries of doctors.

The President of the Hungarian Medical Chamber (MOK) attended a meeting with Sándor Pintér, Minister of the Interior. Gyula Kincses met with the head of the ministry after Parliament approved a bill on the legal status of the health service, which, although it would bring a significant salary increase for doctors, according to the chamber.

  • causes a host of unacceptable harm to the medical community,
  • causes serious dysfunction in the continuity of patient care and
  • in controlling the epidemic, and
  • it also raises questions of constitutional and international law.

After the meeting, Gyula Kincses told hvg.hu: Sándor Pintér did not make any promises but did not refute his suggestions that the law had already been adopted. It listened to the chamber’s opinions and suggestions and indicated that it would consider them. According to the president

After Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in his interviews, and Gergely Gulyás, the minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office, in the government information, in a permissive way, not categorically negative, but in search of a solution, they trust that they will have an idea.

When asked if he sees a possibility of something appearing in the law from the points of view they describe, the Speaker of the House replied:

I am not saying that everything we have described is accepted without reservation or change. But the government also feels there was a very short deadline for legislation here, not only in conciliation but also in preparation. Therefore, it must be modified, partly due to substantive issues and partly due to legal issues.

Negotiations will continue, only the first round of the discussion series was on what the MOK thinks about the law, Gyula Kincses explained. “The Minister informed that the legislative process is expected in the near future on three issues, in which he requested the opinion of the MOK. We have to make an opinion and a proposal on this in writing before Monday. “

The three themes

  • transformation of the general practitioner system,
  • public-private partnerships, and
  • creation of hospital management standards.

Gyula Kincses said about commandability and the possibility of restricting second positions, they still do not exactly look at these issues. “We ask that colleagues be reassured that this will not be some kind of radical stop, not a personal one, but some kind of normative decision, not about who likes the boss and who doesn’t.”

The president indicated that they were now working to resolve the contentious issues. He answered the question of how they would react if change could not be achieved at critical points, “it certainly will not be a one-man decision or a narrow presidency.”
