The central bank governor is more optimistic than anyone, saying that our economy is recovering so fast that we are closing even more this year.

There will be no decline in Hungary, but growth this year, the central bank maintains its growth forecast of 2-3 percent, György Matolcsy, governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, told Kossuth Radio.

He added that successive European growth forecasts reflect a variety of approaches. Two financial and economic institutions that deal with European forecasts are more optimistic than the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Hungarian government: the Polish central bank and the MNB.

They are expected to have an economic impact of rapid drop and fast rebound, ie V-shaped. The first quarter will not be bad, the second quarter will produce quite horrible figures, and the third and fourth quarters will “avoid” previously lost performance. . That is why I dare say that there will be a 2-3 percent increase in Hungary in 2020.

He explained. According to him, this is reinforced by the fact that the vast majority of the Hungarian economy is operating, even in the low weeks of April.

The Hungarian government estimates that our economy may drop 3 percent this year, but by the end of 2021 we will be at a better level than at the end of 2019. The European Commission is even more pessimistic, with a recession of 7 percent this year, and we will not reach last year’s level by the end of 2021.
