According to government calculations, the tax relief will leave HUF 5 billion to companies.

Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. The first step is partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

It is not necessary to submit a separate application or statement to benefit from the discount, said the Secretary of State, adding that it will be sufficient for interested parties to simply mark the fields created for this purpose on their tax returns and monthly contributions.

The November return must be submitted before December 12 and the tax must be paid before that date. According to the Ministry’s calculations, almost 15,000 companies will be exempt from the burden of employers, and those affected will not have to pay a total of 5 billion HUF in taxes through tax deductions, summarized Norbert Izer, Secretary of State for Taxation of the Treasury.

The Secretary of State recalled that the government had decided to grant wage subsidies and immediate fiscal assistance to those sectors that would be seriously affected by the curfew and other restrictions imposed as of November 11. Companies belonging to the hospitality and leisure sector will be exempt from paying labor charges in November, stressed Norbert Izer. The affected companies do not have to pay the November social contribution, the vocational training contribution or the prorated amount of the rehabilitation contribution. The exemption from the rehabilitation contribution for November can be enforced on the annual tax return, the Secretary of State noted.

The benefit is available to companies whose at least 30 percent of their income between May 10 and November 10, 2020 came from hospitality and leisure activities (listed in Government Decree 485/2020 on certain protection measures economic during emergencies). On the one hand, despite the emergency, the company will not lay off its employee thanks to state tax aid and, on the other hand, it will also pay the November salary of its employee.
