The Austrian Chancellor has announced extremely drastic epidemiological measures.

Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day, and the number of deaths from the virus mostly ranged from 50 to 100 in 24 hours. The first step is partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, Health Minister Rudolf Anschober and Interior Minister Karl Nehammer presented the fairly strict new epidemiological rules in Austria.

It turned out that from Tuesday to December 6

  • shopping malls will be closed and only smaller grocery stores, pharmacies and post offices will remain open,
  • There will be distance learning in schools and only those who cannot supervise will be admitted to kindergartens,
  • there will also be guard services in schools,
  • the curfew applies not only at night but also during the day,
  • you can only meet close relatives who do not live in a home,
  • Close to hairdressers, cosmetics and masseurs.

The foreign minister said he knew these measures were “extremely drastic”, but that there was no other way to stop the epidemic. Sebastian Kurz asked the Austrians to all name one person they could contact, Die Presse reports.
