The letter from the Ministry of the Environment also reached Telex.

The professional trips abroad of Hungarian journalists were listed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In June this year, József Magyar, Undersecretary of State for the Development of European Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, wrote a letter entitled “Request for information on professional visits by Hungarian journalists to the host country.” The recipients included the Hungarian embassies in the European Union, and the letter also reached Telex.

In this regard, Hungary asked whether, to the knowledge of the embassies, the host country had organized professional visits, additional training and study tours for Hungarian journalists in recent years, and whether such visits had taken place. If so, the letter continues, when the trips took place, “what kind of representatives of the Hungarian media participated and what newspapers and organizations from the host country visited.”

A letter “based on the terms of reference” from the cabinet responsible for Tamás Menczer’s information was dated June 2, and a response was expected until 1:00 p.m. on June 3. Hungary apologized to the recipients for the short deadline.

We sent a detailed set of questions about the content of the letter to the press department of the Ministry of the Environment. In addition to what was the reason for the rush, we wonder why it was necessary to compile such a list and what they started with the collected information.

To our question, the MoE sent the following response: “Due to its task, the MoE will do everything possible against foreign interference in the internal affairs of Hungary; experience has shown that such attacks are often caused by Soros organizations. “.

We also asked Tamás Menczer and Péter Szijjártó separately about the purpose of creating the database, but neither of them responded.

The editorial board writes that in the letter Magyar asked whether, to the knowledge of the embassies, the host country had organized a professional visit, additional training, study trip for Hungarian journalists in recent years and whether such visits had taken place. If so, the letter continues, when did the trips take place, “what kind of representatives of the Hungarian media participated in it and which newspapers and organizations from the host country visited.”

The Telex team sent a series of detailed questions to the KKM press department about the content of the letter. They wondered why it was necessary to compile such a list and what they had started with the information gathered. The Ministry of the Environment sent the following response to your question:
