The upgrade will cost as much as entire stadiums could be erected elsewhere.

The government has provided 3 billion guilders for the modernization of the FTC Groupama Arena, the index noted in the Dec. 24 issue of the Hungarian Gazette. The appropriation was listed among the priority government skyscrapers.

Although Ferencváros has yet to provide information on what to do with the money, this is an interesting decision, as the stadium was delivered six years ago and cost almost HUF 15 billion in total.

The modernization is interesting not only because the Groupama Arena is still one of the most modern in Europe, but also because, for example, a completely new stadium could be built in Mezőkövesd for a total of HUF 1 billion, although it is a piece very much. smaller and simpler.

It seems that the government does not stop with the construction of stadiums, despite the fact that not only is the new house built for the entire NB I (and the Budapest Honvédé is still under construction), but much of the second division field already it is played in a European match. . More recently, for example, the visual designs for Nyíregyháza’s 8,000 arena have been made public, and that tender has cost billions without even knowing when the old one can be demolished.

Compared to these, the government gift to NB II Vasas is almost small: they received a total of “only” 350 million florins to operate the stadium.
