Balance settlement is replaced by gross settlement, which counts forints instead of kilowatts. If the ITM sets the purchase price of the electricity produced below the current price of electricity, then in vain for the solar cell, the electricity bill must be paid.

By the end of 2023, the equilibrium liquidation of residential solar systems will be abolished and instead a gross liquidation will occur, writes the G7.hu. Currently, most roof-mounted solar panels are connected to the electrical grid by measuring household consumption and production on an alternative electricity meter. Therefore, if a home produces at least as much electricity as it consumes, it does not have to pay an electricity bill.

Referring to the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the economic document writes that in the new system, however, the price of the energy already extracted from the grid will be compared with the absorption price of the feedback energy.

Consumption will be calculated on the basis of the current price of electricity, but the purchase price for production will be determined later. If it becomes lower than the price of electricity, it is not enough for a solar-powered home to supply the system with the same amount of electricity that it consumes, in the end you will still have to pay an electricity bill. And if a home views its solar system as an investment, then it is essentially impossible to calculate the return.
