Ernő Zalai, a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and a Széchenyi Prize-winning professor, has died at the age of 78, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Hungarian Academy of Sciences) reported to MTI on Saturday.

The scientist, who died on Friday, was born on August 5, 1943 in Budapest. He graduated from Jászberény, then graduated in 1966 as an economist from the Károly Marx University of Economics. He defended his doctoral thesis in 1981 and then his academic doctoral thesis in 1990. In 1998 he was elected a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and in 2004 he became a full member.

Ernő Zalai in 2012 for his work as a scientific researcher and research organizer in the fields of mathematical economics, microeconomics, economic modeling and analysis, in recognition of his leadership role in tailoring Hungarian economic education to the needs and international requirements of the mixed market economy and other professional activities.

He received the Széchenyi Prize.
Upon receiving the award, he told mta.hu that research in mathematical economics, university education, including doctoral training, and public activities, including the development of the requirements for the title of Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences , played an important role in his life.
