The PCR test to detect the coronavirus will have to be paid for by those who make their own decision to go to the sample, said a parliamentary secretary of state for the Prime Minister’s Office in a video uploaded to the government’s Facebook page on Thursday.

Csaba Dömötör he recalled: the cabinet decided this week to introduce an official price for the PCR test. This will be HUF 19,500, which includes the sampling and analysis fee.

It is important to know that if the test is ordered by a family doctor, a hospital or an authority on the basis of a protocol, you still will not have to pay, said the Secretary of State, noting that so far 580 thousand samples have been taken in Hungary, most for free.

The official price will be applied to those who voluntarily request a PCR test, for example, to “leave” the official home quarantine with two negative results when returning from abroad.

The aim is that no one can “win” in the tests, the government’s decision serves this purpose – emphasized Csaba Dömötör.
