The retail price of natural gas has been the cheapest in Hungary in the European Union for 28 months and the price of electricity for 12 months, a spokesman for the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Authority (MEKH) said on the show morning M1 from M1.

Zsolt Scherer called the low prices a result of lower overhead costs, according to MTI. He added that consumers can calculate for a longer period with a regulated and predictable gas price.

44% of residential consumers are heated with gas, another 18% with district heating, most of which is also produced with gas, and 17% with a boiler suitable for gas and solid fuel. In contrast, only about one percent of homes are heated with electricity.

Only ten percent of the natural gas used in Hungary comes from domestic wells, 90 percent from abroad. He said that it was important that the more places the country could buy gas, because the cheaper the raw material could be obtained.

40 percent of the amount shown on the gas bill is the price of gas as a product and 60 percent is the cumulative cost of other costs, such as transportation, storage, and cleaning.
