An Indonesian coffin maker who sold a meteor that hit the roof of his house to an American for $ 14,000 (4.2 million guilders) feels cheated, but it turned out that the space rock is worth much more than that.

Jakarta media reported on Friday that the roof of Joshua Hutagalung’s home in North Sumatra had been smashed by a meteor that fell from the sky three months ago. The man told the Jakarta Post that he had sold the stone to an American for $ 14,000, and only now had he learned that it might actually have cost $ 1.8 million.

“If that’s true, they lied to me and I’m very disappointed,” the 34-year-old told the newspaper.

It sold 1.8 kilograms of the 2.2 kilogram space rock. The 4.5 billion-year-old rock was bought by American meteorite expert Jared Collins for 200 million rupees ($ 14,000).

“I spent 200 million rupees to help my family and the orphans, helped build a temple and repaired my parents’ grave,” he said.

Hutagalung wrote in a Facebook post about a piece of meteorite that fell on his home. As he said, he didn’t want to sell at first, but when Collins offered him another 14 million rupees (300,000 guilders) to repair the roof, he gave in to his waist.

Collins sold the meteorite to an American collector who, according to The Sun in the UK, allegedly placed it at the Arizona State University Meteorite Research Center, where it is stored in liquid nitrogen.

Hutagalung said that he shared the part of the meteorite that he had with his family members and, no matter how valuable it was, he did not intend to sell it. (MTI)

When the country awaits measures against the epidemic, the government considers it essential to realize its own power. Legalizing the theft of billions of billions of public goods, the ideological war on sexual minorities, many changes to the electoral law to avoid the cooperation of the opposition … and there will be more ideas here. In spring, the day the emergency measures were introduced, the Index was occupied. Whats Next? Support the free press for as long as you can!
