A coach can hardly dream of a better and more enjoyable tackle than György Bognár against MTK Budapest: the former national soccer team fifty times returned to the forefront with a four-goal success on the Paks bench and relied on an equally successful continuation. . He was hoping to get to know his players much better during a week of working together, so that he could plan more courageously. Tamás Feczkó was more excited, they went through three championships so that the rojiblancos remained undefeated.
Diósgyőr’s management reduced the price of tickets by thirty percent, which it hoped would increase the number of spectators. The home team took offensive action, with the guests unable to cross the midfield line for four minutes. Then, however, they flew in: first Attila Osváth fired, then János Hahn’s closed head was pushed off the bar by Antal Botond with a valiant move. In the jump, after Máté Sajbán’s shot, the ball slipped through the lower left corner, and less than half an hour passed when the fans began to shout the alarm.
Diósgyőr started his way, the minutes were filled with vibrant and varied games, apparently neither side withdrew. In the middle hair, Máté Sajbán helped the Paks’ defenders, but it almost became a problem as the forward’s liberating kick was sliced from Hysen Memolla’s body to the top bar and on to the field. And the center arrived: in the last minute of time, János Szabó put the ball in front of the goal from the left, on which József Windecker came and fired from twenty feet to the left corner (0-1). It was a cold shower for the Hungarians, but based on what they saw, it was not a surprise, as Paks came up with a cute and brave game.
Diósgyőr accelerated the game after the break, so there was no shortage of promotions. The equalization also came: Gábor Molnár from almost eighteen meters, he turned the ball from a free kick to the goal with a masterful movement (1–1). The rojiblancos got bloodshot for this and led their attacks one by one, the Paks got stuck. The home team was gaining more and more possession and Tamás Feczkó’s team had more ball. Diósgyőr apparently wanted to take the game to a decision, but many of his attacks jammed and at other times the shots turned out to be inaccurate. At times Paks shone too, but the home defense ruined well. There could be no complaints about the fierceness of the fight, nor about the pace.
The question was whether there would be another objective. The parties fought for victory until the last minute, and the Paks did it. The game was close to being wild at times, and Sajbán slid the ball past the home keeper after a dazzling play down the left. Dénes Szakály three meters to the upper left corner (1-2).
The victory of the guests is not unworthy, coach György Bognár’s first match was followed by a successful second. At the same time, Diósgyőr VTK’s attacking game also broke this time, for which Tamás Feczkó’s team had to pay a heavy price. After the game, the home crowd strongly expressed their discontent.
