Diego Forlán is no longer the coach of the most popular team in the Uruguayan league, Peñarol, in which Krisztián Vadócz also plays soccer.

The attacker, voted best at the 2010 World Cup, was thanked for his work after his team only finished seventh in the table after nine rounds.

“I have to leave Peñarol,” Forlán said on his Twitter page, thanking and at the same time honoring him for the opportunity he received from the club’s management.

“I do not regret anything, football is like that”, summarized his first coaching competition, the 41-year-old coach, who has appeared as a player in Independientes, Manchester United, Villarreal, Atlético de Madrid and Peñarol, among others. In the Uruguayan national team he acted 36 times in 112 appearances and twice, in 2005 and 2009, he won the Golden Boot, the most successful European scorer.

Forlán’s team last eliminated leader Montevideo Wanderers 2-0, leaving him seven points behind in the standings.
