The Sunday Congress for the Renewal of Dialogue in Budapest re-elected the party’s co-chairs and co-chairs, Tímea Szabó and Gergely Karácsony. When asked by the Hungarian Nation whether the current mayor will be a candidate for prime minister, Gergely Karácsony took a detour.

Before the municipal elections, Gergely Karácsony did not believe that he could perform the functions of party president and mayor at the same time, but now he has returned to be party president. The result was announced by Tímea Szabó and Gergely Karácsony at a press conference after the vote of the Dialogue renewal congress on Sunday. At the event, the Presidency of the Dialogue was also elected. From seven to nine members, the two co-chairs are automatically members. The term of elected officials is two years.

In addition to Christmas and Tímea Szabó, the presidency was held by András Béres, deputy mayor of Óbuda-Békásmegyer; David Doros, Deputy Mayor; Gábor Erőss, Deputy Mayor of District VIII; Adrienn Jakál, Chairman of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Party Organization; Zsolt Szabó, Deputy Mayor of Dunaújváros; It is made up of Bence Tordai, Member of Parliament, Deputy Leader of the faction and Márta V. Naszályi, Mayor of the 1st District.

The Hungarian Nation asked Gergely Karácsony why he changed his mind and addressed himself as co-chair of the Dialogue.

As is well known: before the municipal elections, Gergely Karácsony spoke of resigning as co-president of the Dialogue in the event of his victory, because the office of mayor is not compatible with party politics. The co-chair replied: If Fidesz’s position as party chairman is compatible with the prime minister’s presidency, he will also be able to perform both of his duties at the same time.

Magyar Nemzet was also curious to see if the mayor saw an opportunity to change his mind on the prime ministerial run. Christmas announced in another interview in July that he would not run in a possible pre-election between opposition candidates.

The mayor made a detour to the newspaper. As he said, the most important thing is that the opposition has a common prime ministerial candidate after the pre-election. He added that he is not currently preparing to run in a pre-election.
