Pál Bolberitz was born in Budapest on September 15, 1941, recalls the newspaper.

He was ordained a priest on June 19, 1966 in Esztergom. He studied at the Budapest Theological Academy between 1966 and 1968. He was chaplain at Szentendre in 1968, and then at Szentimre from 1968 to 1973. From 1973 to 1978 he was professor of theology at the Esztergom seminary and a fellow in Rome in 1974-1976. From 1978 to 1988 he was a full professor at the Academy of Theology in Budapest. From 1988 to 1990, from 1992 to 1994, and then from 1994 to 1996, he was dean of the Faculty of Theology at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University.

From 1976 to 1995 he was judge of the Holy See, since 1988 honorary abbot, since 1993 papal prelate. Since 1990 he was ecclesiastical president of the Hungarian Kolping Association, since 1997 he was a primate judge, since 2001 he was apostolic protonator, he was the Grand Cross of the Sovereign Order of Malta. Since 2003 he has been president of the St. Stephen Academy of Sciences. Since 2004 he has been a representative of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

The Hungarian Nation adds: Pál Bolberitz was a student of the first freely elected Prime Minister after the change of regime, József Antall.

Before the death of the Prime Minister, he delivered the sacrament of patients to the Prime Minister, and then also held a televised mourning ceremony, for which the renowned theologian and philosopher professor became known throughout the country.
