Hvg.hu was informed by two sources that the National Council of Culture met on Monday, in which Viktor Orbán and Attila Vidnyánszky also participated, who now have a positive result in the coronavirus test.

Coronavirus: the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the posters, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

According to our newspaper, the National Council of Culture met on Monday, October 26. A source from hvg.hu, who was also present at the event, also confirmed that Attila Vidnyánszky had discussed separately with Viktor Orbán at this meeting.

This may be particularly concerning because a day later, on October 27, it became clear that the executive director of the National Theater had tested positive for the coronavirus. In a statement from the theater, he wrote that Attila Vidnyánszky was “in satisfactory condition, resting at home.”

Hvg.hu also contacted the Prime Minister’s Press Office and the Hungarian Academy of Arts (whose president is a member of the National Council of Culture) to confirm our information. As soon as they reply, we will update our article.

The National Council of Culture was established by the Theater Law enacted last December, and the council held its inaugural meeting in February this year. Its members have appointed directors of 17 cultural strategy institutions to provide the council with “a professional basis for the government’s integrated strategic management of cultural sectors,” “propose to the government a government strategy for culture,” and “comment on and coordinate the development plans for the cultural sector “. Their activities must be reported to the government annually.

The 17 institutions of cultural strategy are: the National Theater, the Hungarian State Opera (as it turned out on Sunday, New Years Eve Blacksmith, is also the General Director of the institution caught the coronavirus, Origo, who first published the news, Ókovács has been ill since the beginning of last week), the Budapest Operetta Theater, the National Center for Artists-Performances and Circus Arts, the Palace of Arts, the Honvéd Ensemble , the Petőfi Literary Museum, the Hungarian National Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Museum, the Széchényi National Library, the Hungarian National Archives, the Institute for Hungarian Studies, the House of Traditions, the Ethnographic Museum, the Ethnographic Museum al Aire Libre, the NMI Cultural Institute and the National Film Institute.
