There is growing resistance from students and professors to the erosion of the autonomy of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) due to the government’s decision to continue the university as a foundation under Attila Vidnyánszky. More and more world-famous artists are joining the solidarity movement around SZFE, but the Vidnyánszky family is not expanding. You can follow the latest developments in the SZFE scandal in our article series.

On Tuesday, the new direction of the University of Theatrical and Cinematographic Arts issued a statement in which it states, among other things,

They’ll turn off the internet at 6 a.m. M., They will do it again at 7 a.m. M.,

there is no internet on Vas Street or Szentkirályi Street. There is also a bedroom on Vas Street, but there is no internet either. We see wifi but it doesn’t work. We hear that this will be the case every day until 7am, of course there was no internet due to a technical error, but it would be a strange coincidence if a technical error had occurred in both places.

It was known that our forum will start now, at six o’clock, internet access is essential for all forums as there cannot be more than 70 people in the Ódry Stage due to the virus situation, so Zoomon will join others. The Tuesday evening forum will be held using the mobile internet.

University staff have confirmed that although they see Wi-Fi, it does not work in the buildings and in the dormitory. Our newspaper was told that there had been a technical error in the past, but it would be a strange coincidence if the network had disappeared in both buildings at the same time due to some error.

The students would have started the forum at 6 o’clock in the afternoon, for which Internet access is essential, since due to the virus situation, no more than seventy people can be in the Old Dry Stage, so anyone who is not present will be able to join via video chat.

Tuesday night’s forum will be held via mobile internet.

On Tuesday, the letter to the university staff was published by Gábor Szarka, the rector rejected by the opposition students, prohibiting them from cooperating with the protesting students.
