Csurgó’s woman, whose abdominal cavity was washed with disinfectant instead of saline, died in May at the Szigetvár gynecology hospital, RTL Klub Híradó reported. During surgery, a cyst was removed, but due to the serious error, the woman was transported in critical condition to the intensive care unit of the Pécs clinic, from where she no longer returned home.

The head of the Szigetvár hospital confirmed to the announcer that Csurgó’s wife had died of complications from the poisoning. He added that he sincerely regrets what happened. According to the police, the criminal process is still pending. The National Center for Public Health (NNK) wrote to the reporter that the hospital had committed an irregularity in the documentation for which the authority fined the institution. According to RTL Klub, the NNK imposed a fine of 2 million.

During the operation, they may have made the mistake of not labeling the bottle, so the disinfectant, which is commonly used to clean operating rooms and equipment, may have accidentally mixed with the saline solutions. She left behind two children.
