Saturday’s coronavirus data:

We discovered three oddities in the data released on Saturday, let’s look at them:

  1. In every county decreased the number of infected compared to yesterday, which is not possible in principle (unless it is a statistical error or a correction of a previous error), since the number of infected people is always a cumulative figure that shows the number of positive test producers up to March. By comparison, since Friday, for example, the number of infected people in Budapest has dropped by 496, and the number of counties and the capital has dropped by 3,475 in 24 hours.
  2. According to the official announcement published on koronavirus.gov.hu and the title of the map also published here, so far 243,581 coronavirus infections have been recorded in Hungary, however, the sum of the data from the counties and the capital in the map is 234,581, that is the two numbers don’t match.
  3. Given the nature of the statistics, 243,581 people clearly seem to be the correct figure (as the number had to increase compared to yesterday), but the reader may have noticed that these two numbers just give up by exchanging two digits.

It is difficult to explain that the informants were wrong in such a way that the officially reported number and the number resulting from the sum of the 20 data would continue to be exchanged only two digits.

Although we don’t like to make conspiracy theories it’s as if someone had deliberately set the recent county data in such a way that their sum would in any case yield the national data, only in this last accidentally double-digit shift before determining the county data.

For the sake of security, we also analyzed if it was an accidental reissue of a map already published in previous days, but no: 234,581 infected numbers were not included in the previous data. This is today’s map where anyone can verify that the number in the title does not come from the sum of the number of counties:
