Coronavirus: Slovenia has a record number of new infections

In Slovenia, the number of infected people rose from 137 to 4,195 on Thursday, according to government data. Since the start of the epidemic, the daily increase in infections has not been that high, with a record 123 infections so far on Tuesday. Another 104 new cases were reported Wednesday.

There have been four new deaths, bringing the death toll from the epidemic to 140 so far. Of the diagnosed patients, 67 are in the hospital and eleven of them are cared for in an intensive care unit. The number of patients needing hospital care has doubled since last week. The number of active patients is 1,116.

Due to the increase in the number of infected people, Slovenia is introducing new tightening measures to curb the epidemic: from Saturday it will be mandatory to wear the mask both indoors and outdoors, and from the beginning of the week in schools from from seventh grade onwards. must close.

The cabinet is preparing new decrees that would be introduced in the event of a further increase in the number of infected people in the country. Such would be, for example, lowering the ceiling of the meetings from ten to six and restricting the opening hours of the stores.

In Croatia, the crisis team reports that the number of infected people has increased by 234 in the last 24 hours to 14,513. 250 cases were reported on Wednesday. Six chronically elderly patients died, bringing the death toll to 245, and 12,169 have already recovered.

280 of the patients are in the hospital, 21 of whom are connected to a ventilator. The number of active patients is 2,100 and 8,938 are in official quarantine.
