The Czech government has issued the highest level of epidemiological alert. Most stores have to re-close only a month after they could open. Only grocery stores and pharmacies can be open. Stores can only sell essential items. Nationwide curfews and nighttime curfews were enforced between 9:00 p.m. A maximum of two people can meet in public spaces, no exception to the regulation is foreseen for New Year’s Eve. In a country with a population of 10.7 million, the coronavirus claimed the lives of about 10,950 people.
